Date in office: 1969-1972
Carl G. Johnson was appointed as the County Executive in
February 1969. During his tenure, Johnson was responsible for
several budgetary and spending programs that involved highly
complex health care and welfare programs.
Johnson came to Sacramento from Fulton County in Atlanta
Georgia, where he served as county manager for two years. Prior
to that, Johnson served as manager of Guilford County in North Carolina for four years and as
administrator of Washtenaw County in Michigan.
Upon leaving Sacramento County in May 1972, Johnson accepted a position with Los Angeles consulting
firm, SUA Corporation as a senior vice president. Born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Johnson
graduated from Wayne State University in Detroit.
